Depression

With the never ending ups and downs of life, it’s common to encounter periods of sadness or moments where you just don’t feel like yourself. Sometimes, though, that sadness stays with you and interferes with your daily life, leading to depression.

Depression is a mood disorder that causes persistent feelings of sadness and results in a loss of interest in things someone once enjoyed. Mentally, depression can trigger feelings of hopelessness, irritability, restlessness, or emptiness. Physically, the disorder can appear as a decrease in energy, inadequate or excessive sleep, or a change in appetite.

By working with a therapist, you can learn strategies to cope with the hardships of depression and learn to prevent future periods of it. In order to do so, though, we must first work together to identify the thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to the depressive feelings and recognize the additional factors in your life that also play a role.

New Morning Mercies Counseling invites you to wholly be yourself in the comfort of a non-judgmental and confidential space. Here, I will work with you to develop new techniques for coping with and overcoming depression, setting goals for a brighter tomorrow.
